Mt Hutt & Temple Basin

August 19th, 2010 - August 25, 2010

Temple Basin Tow Rope - had to use a nut-cracker for the first time!
View of the Temple Basin I just shredded - on way down to carpark 45 min hike. Stoked.

Just got back from a couple of competitions at Mt. Hutt: a youth minishred slopestyle and my first FIS GS. I ended up placing 3rd in the slopestyle, landing a couple of new tricks....270s onto boxes as well as a couple Cab 270s. I also competed in my first FIS level event, a GS. Though I wasn't able to have results posted on the FIS website, I still raced and placed 2nd in the non-FIS division in the men's open category, though my time would still have put me in the mix with the FIS competitors. I look forward to racing the FIS athletes in 2 years!!! 15 rock on.
Ok to do FIS at 13 years Halfpipe.

After a couple of days shredding at Mt.Hutt, I went to Temple Basin with a friend from the States. That mountain is pretty gnarly! You have to hike up an hour just to get to the mountain, and once up there, you have to use a harness and a nutcracker to load the rope tows. I figured it out pretty quickly, though, and ended up shredding some awesome pow in the Southern Alps of NZ. Check out the photos from this epic place!
