Mum's and cameras - but hey great to get home for the weekend, bit tired after 3 hour drive up from coast after a days Diving but Dogs happy - smiles all round.

He doesn't know it yet,  I'll be sending him into a ice covered pond tomorrow - when the crew get together for our annual Duck Shooting BBQ.

Looking at the weather - I definitely think the Ducks will be ok.

Hiking / Camping Trip - minus DOG!

Diving going great - down in Dunedin, did my first night dives on Thursday night and I was really looking forward to getting home to hang with Dog - hike and mountain bike for the weekend.

Got a call from friends inviting me away for the weekend. BAD news - the Dog not allowed to come.

Arrived home - unpacked and then started packing again. Felt really bad - but as you can see Dog was determined not to let me out the front door.  Going to miss him but hey - take every opportunity.

USA, Canada, Austria, Switzerland, Spain - Season Finished - Homeward Bound.

4th Apr 15

Can't believe it, the season has finished. Have had an amazing season - obviously my World Cup start 10th and overall World Cup ranking of 24th are my highlights.

The last few races were challenging as it's an adjustment getting back onto the smaller modified courses. I think I like the big ones! If I'm honest I have to say my legs were starting to feel it after all the competing and travelling.

I have learnt heaps this season - lots more to learn - thanks Ross and Jan ISTC.

On route from Vancouver to Denver - then pack up and it's back to DIA in Denver and homeward bound.  First time I've flown out of Vancouver for USA.

The training won't stop - will be hitting the gym big time during the off season - it makes a big difference to on snow training.

Usually when I get home - I'm at a loss really - all go for so long and then - flat.

So this season I've decided to keep going - so I'm doing my Foundation Rescue Divers course in Dunedin for a month.  Have completed all the E Online Courses while travelling and now I can hit the ocean for the practical. I sat my Open Water a couple of years ago and it has been great being able to dive with mates, so I'm really looking forward to learning more and keeping up with the industry.

I found this shot, which pretty much sums up this season - lots of new experiences!

Especially - looking down my first World Cup course in Veysonnaz, Switzerland!

- Getting some Deep Breaths in - thanks for the advice back at the start Rachel Newton.

Exercise Wakatipu, NZ style

13th Sept 14

What a way to get some serious exercise, gym is great - necessary but nothing beats getting out in the mountains and valleys of the Wakatipu District.

Fynn and I just dropped off for a weekend of exploration, hiking and living it rough.  No huts just sleeping out in the elements.  Backpacks - full - so this will check out the fitness levels.  Missing our mate Latham but he is committed to a block course on his apprenticeship. Next time.

Gym Work pays off.

Had a fitness test today, which showed that the work I've been doing with Nick and Shane is definitely working.

Another form of testing next week and the goal posts are being shifted so that I can be in the best shape for the up and coming season.

Time is moving fast, I'm keen to hit the slopes in Colorado, Europe, USA and Canada but at the same time I am going to miss being at home.

Hopefully we will get another couple of fishing trips in - Groper is what we are after this time.
Cod is good but Groper or Tuna better.    http://www.fishing.net.nz/hapuku-bass/

Making the most of my last weeks in New Zealand. Great day fishing with the regular crew off Stewart Island.

After some research of ocean maps - we appear to have hit the spot, bringing up some good sized Blue Cod.  Awesome fish to cook with.

One of the mid sized one, I caught

This big boy was hauled in by Tom and little Tomo scored a Trumpeter.

Hunting South Island NZ

15th June 14

Now I understand some people are against hunting of any form. Considering my mum is one of those I do understand (she goes to the supermarket!) Ha. However, my G'Dad was my primary hunting instructor, as in his day it was a matter of survival and feeding his family (mum!!).

But these days it is also about keeping the wild populations of deer, pig and even wallabies under control as to not allow them to take over whole areas and - quote Department of Conservation " potentially risk biodiversity, biosecurity and damage to private land that may arise from too many wild introduced animals".

So that all being said - the fishing crew got a call from a station holder up country asking if we knew any hunters that could do a cull over the weekend. Otherwise DOC was threatening to send in choppers and poison the area, which he didn't want.

Off we went - great way to see new areas of the country, meet new people and keep up with the dogs!
Haven't shot a pig before, but as long as it is a quick clean shot - all good.

Ha, well I've been keeping fit walking up and down the mountains of the Wakatipu - looking for Deer. Dad, I and the regular crew decided to head out over the weekend - Dad brought his mate (Bennie the Cavalier!!) plus the crew had a couple of true hunting dogs. The pictures speak for themselves. Fun weekend. The Deer won - rained like hell.

Team work - "ok you keep an eye on that side of the valley and I'm on this side".

Not in Bennies Blood - "you promised me a nice weekend of R&R - you lied, I'm wet, cold and no - I'm not coming walking in that prickly stuff".

Duck Shooting for us - is a very social activity, another excuse for the crew to get together for some, good laughs, train the dogs and eat camp mum's (Ltd's) great food. So between working and hanging with the crew fishing and hunting things have been pretty awesome. Even the working is a very social activity. Ha. All good.

Fillet time with the pro - Tom and I.
A tough day - hunting - Mum's happy the Ducks won!!
The Duck Dog - relaxing after a hard day - socialising!

Keeping fit and enjoying the country.

Firstly thanks heaps to Alpine Health and Fitness for their continued support, great place to train.

Really enjoying being back but the one thing I seem to have missed again!! is the summer - never mind that's my chosen path. Been out hiking around Queenstown, four hours up the back of Remarkables the other day - I like exploring areas that I haven't been too and it is a great way to keep fit - with lots of scenery.  Climbing the mountains with my dog, taking pictures and taking my mind off the muscle work ha.
Wye Creek up to Remarkables.

Love diving and had the spear gun sorted but unfortunately the weather off the west coast was crazy as NZ got hit with the tail end of the cyclone off Aussie. But scored a few good fish, we have a regular crew that go fishing, diving and sometimes hunting - but Grandad Campbell came for a look see this time - seems pretty happy.

Another great day out in the New Zealand mountains, with Dad and friends - Latham and Jonesy!.

Weather was great, saw quite a few for the day, but we only needed three for the fridges - mind you Dad said - need bigger boat and bigger fridge! Dreaming again! Keeping fit the NZ way.

Jarrah and the lap dog Ben on high alert (King Charles wanting to be a hunting dog).

Wallabies in NZ

17th/18th Aug 13

Had an opportunity to go hunting Wallabies in the weekend - not those ones that were being hammered by the All Blacks.   No the ones that Department of Conversation and Farmers consider pests.

So many people have been surprised that NZ actually have animals similar to Kangaroos.

Between 1858 and 1870 about 12 species of marsupial were let loose in NZ but only the brushtailed opossum and the wallabies became successfully established.

We didn't see or shot as many as the farmer hoped as it was a pouring wet weekend but as you can see - Jarrah is licking his lips in anticipation of wallabie dinner and even dripping wet the rest of us were still having a great time - out in a new part of the country.  Thanks for the opportunity.

Thanks Jonesy and Latham for great trip.

For those of you who are wondering why I'm not competing during the Winter Games events - well that is because when Snow Park closed - the events from Snow Park were shifted to Cardrona and they were not able to hold the NZ Transcontinental Boardercross Cup as well!!!! So with the warm winter we are having, I'm making the most of some time out with Dad and mates prior to hitting the northern hemisphere again.

Hi - I put this edit together of my trip over to the West Coast of NZ. The diving was awesome lots of crayfish and great fishing. The Kea you see on film let all of his mates and everything else in the valley  know we were there!! Hunting not so good.

Couple of interesting links on Kea and NZ Crayfish.

Just got back from the weekend hunting, heaps of fun, got a Fallow Deer, great meat had a chance at a Red Stag - however, it was agreed between hunters that the meat of a Stag is not great, no antlers no point.

Check out Dad's hunting dog - Yeah Right!! Ben came with us - ha for a small dog he has a lot of energy.

I really really love snowboarding - however, this is a little hard to handle.

Miss fishing trips with my Dad big time! - especially when he is catching these Blue Nose and crays off the West Coast of New Zealand with his mate Wayne.

Good on you - I can see by your face you are obviously missing me!!! ha.

Fishing, Von River, Queenstown, NZ

11th Dec 11

Heard Jamie was in town so Dad shot us over the lake to the Von River for a days fishing, it was a super hot, still day and boy was it good to hit the water, even if initially it wasn't planned.

Ha, while climbing up a rock wall trying to get up the river, I slipped and fell in.!! So having scared off all the fish, it was all on - bombs away - amazing rock pools crystal clear, if I had my flippers I reckon I would have been able to catch those guys with my hands.

Jamie and I scored a couple of big trout on the way home from the boat. So all good.

----

3rd pic - some of the results of a crash I had on Saturday after the chain wrapped up my pedals, so having a quiet day was great - give the skin time to restore itself.
